How to Specify a Custom Wafer

Published

A complete specification saves days of back-and-forth. When you request a quote, include:

  1. Material and grade: prime, test or dummy.
  2. Diameter, plus flat or notch requirements.
  3. Thickness and tolerance, e.g. 525 ± 25 µm.
  4. Type, dopant and resistivity range.
  5. Crystal orientation, and any off-cut angle.
  6. Surface finish: single-side polished, double-side polished, or as-cut.
  7. Quantity and target delivery date.

If a parameter doesn’t matter for your application, say so. A looser tolerance often shortens lead time and lowers cost.
